Airedale General Hospital is among a small number of hospitals in the UK that were built in the late 1960s and is experiencing severe structural problems. It was built with Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) – a lightweight, bubbly form of concrete.
RAAC was found to have a lifespan of 30 years and structural engineers have advised that the hospital should be replaced as soon as possible.
In May 2023, the Trust received the news that Airedale General Hospital had been accepted onto the national New Hospital Programme.
AGH Solutions is leading an extensive programme of structural improvement works across the current hospital to help keep patients, staff and visitors safe.
The programme is prioritising the areas most affected by RAAC, ensuring the highest-risk areas are addressed first.
We are proud to announce the successful renovation of the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Airedale General Hospital.
This project reflects our commitment to delivering safe, high-quality and modern healthcare infrastructure.
Working closely with our partners and clinical teams throughout, the refurbishment was meticulously planned to minimise disruption to services whilst enhancing the functionality, comfort and efficiency of the ward.
The upgraded CCU is brighter, more patient-centred and designed to support the excellent standard of care delivered by the Cardiac Care team. It also offers an improved working environment for our NHS colleagues.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in this project for your professionalism, collaboration and dedication to bringing this project to life.
